Deb Wootton
Managing Director
Deb got into the events industry by accident but fell in love with it instantly. She loves the feeling of seeing a finished event through the eyes of attendees and how powerful it is for a company to have their staff in one room for staff morale and to showcase the company’s vision or to have members of an organisation together for human connection. She has now been in the industry for over 20 years.
Deb first hired Activities & Events Unlimited as a young event manager many moons ago. After a few years overseas (and plenty more event experience under her belt), she returned in 2021 and took the leap—purchasing the business with a clear vision: to grow it into one of the best creative event companies in Aotearoa. Since then, the business has evolved, rebranded, and is now known as Wild Apricot—a fresh name for the same bold, creative spirit.
“He aha te mea nui o te ao. What is the most important thing in the world? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. It is the people, it is the people, it is the people. I love bringing people together and seeing people experience new things through their eyes. After all the organisation and planning is complete, the real enjoyment for me is watching all of the moving parts come together, it is totally addictive!”.
When she is not working, you’ll find her horse-riding, spending time with her daughters, and getting outdoors for a run or to the beach.
Jodie Edgington
Event Design & Projects Manager
Jodie brings a unique blend of skills to our team. Her background in fashion design fuels her creativity, allowing her to dream up incredible event concepts. Jodie’s experience as a school sports coordinator developed her organisational and project management skills further. Every event, she is involved with, runs like clockwork. Going above and beyond for our clients is what Jodie does best. Her positive and happy attitude towards everything is infectious….. so, beware!
Jodie’s passion for design extends beyond fashion and events. In her free time, she enjoys interior design, home renovations and tending to the garden at her lifestyle property, where she lives with her husband, their three children, and a variety of furry and feathery friends. When she’s not overseeing a bustling household or nurturing her garden, you are likely to find her expressing her rhythmic side with the African Djembe drum!
